Chapter 03: Visions of Andalusia

Over the years I taken so many photos of Andalusia and in this chapter of our little adventure I want to share some with you.

Let’s start with some FOOD

Aaah Paella

This is one of my all time favourite Sunday lunches. It needs to be made for a large group of hungry diners and eaten with gusto!

ensalada de chorizo

Chorizo is such a delicious sausage and paired with fresh rocket, tomato, red onions, dressed with red wine vinegar, this is an unforgettable salad

SalMorejo

This is a cold ‘soup’ from Cordoba. It’s made from fresh tomatoes and lots of the fruitiest olive oil, with other incredible flavours added. It is completely addictive.

tapas

This board was on the wall outside a bar in Seville. Of course I went in for a cheeky glass of wine and a few plates of tapas

Here’s to PLACES…

cordoba

This is the outside of La Mezquita in Cordoba. It is a breathtaking monument of both Moorish and Catholic architecture. This is one of my favourite places to visit

ronda

Ronda is majestic and dramatic. This town is filled with history, art and culture. To wander through the cobblestoned lanes is a complete joy

lunch

Steak Tartare, Smoked Salmon, cheeses, meats and some cheeky vino. Perfect food for a summer lunch

almejas al vapor

Steamed clams in white wine, garlic and parsley. The juices from the clams blend with the wine to create a delicious broth.

higos

I bought these figs from a local farmer and went home a made the most incredible fig jam. I’ll post the recipe. You’ll love it!

marbella

The beach is the place to be. Even in winter we often head to there for lunch and a glass of wine overlooking the Mediterranean. One word - sublime

seville

As you wander through the lanes of Seville it’s important to look up - you don’t want to miss a thing

cadiz

Where history meets nature. This incredible town is resplendent with both. Food, wine, flamenco, art, beaches and so much more

bolonia

A chiringuito - beach bar, Bolonia, in the south of Andalusia between Tarifa and Cadiz. Great seafood and wine, sitting with our feet in the sand gazing at the Mediterranean

seville

I took this photo as I wandered through the lanes. The sight of this beautiful flamenco dress reminded me of people dancing in the streets in celebration of life and culture

Images of Andalusia I LOVE!

my favourite bar, malaga

El Pimpi is one of my all time favourite bars in Andalusia. In the old town of Malaga, there are rooms and spaces for food, wining, talking, dancing - the atmosphere is incredible

el pimpi

The wall in one of the bars of El Pimpi, Malaga

views of morocco

From Tarifa you can see the tip of Africa and the mountains in Morocco. On a really clear day, you can see the cars driving around Tangier

horses

Take a horse ride through cobble-stoned lanes and take in the beauty of the town

cello in the plaza

Part of the Flamenco Festival. I took this photo in 2014 when I was in Seville. The cellist is accompanying two flamenco dancers

casco antiguo marbella

This is the window to my home in the old town of Marbella. To live right in the middle of it all was absolutely exhilirating

in the park

These incredible benches are scattered through the parks in Andalusia. This one is in Marbella

flamenco in the park

Every two years Seville holds a Flamenco Festival. Concerts, master classes and free performances brings this already incredible city, alive with music, song and dance

cadiz moon

Moonlight over the Mediterranean

me on the beach

Feet in the sand, sun shining, good food, wine and friends. Summer never felt so good!
